The eGDED is positioned to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to position the public sector to provide effective digital governance through the implementation of digital transformation and promote digital innovations, entrepreneurship, and adoption of emerging technologies. The ultimate goal is to provide digital government and accelerate job creation for an inclusive digital economy and national prosperity.
The eGDED vision is to position NITDA as the prime driver for developing digital governance and an inclusive digital economy in Nigeria. eGDED philosophy is centered around innovation, inclusivity, and impact. This philosophy guides all actions, from policy formulation to project implementation to enable the achievement of the following among others:
Digital Solutions Development & Adoption Division: (All Emerging Technologies, Capacity Building and Soft Skills, etc.)
Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Division: (EA, e-Services, e-Agric, e-Health, e-Education, Digital trade, etc.)

1. Drive Digital Transformation through:
a) Promotion of digital transformation across government and critical economic sectors.
b) Implementation of the Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0) for the advancement of the Digital Economy.
c) Facilitate the development of digital services, new government business models, and data-driven initiatives for various sectors.
d) Foster the emergence of new digital markets, exportable to Africa and beyond.
e) Promote the discovery and integration of emerging technologies into the Nigerian economy.
2. Foster Digital Inclusion through:
a) Facilitate the deployment of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in all communities.
b) Promote effective digital access and inclusion for all Nigerians.
c) Facilitate implementation of programs for digital literacy and skills development.
3. Enabling Digital Economy Growth:
a) Develop initiatives to increase the number of digitally enabled MSMEs and IDEs.
b) Measure the impact of digital economy development and recommend improvements.
4. E-Government Development:
a) Support the development of government e-services for efficient service delivery.
b) Facilitate the development and implementation of e-government regulatory instruments.
c) Foster development and integration of national enterprise architecture for e-government development.
d) Facilitate and promote e-government capacity development among government agencies (MDAs).
e) Coordinate and implement the National e-Government Master Plan.
f) Develop and drive strategies for the adoption of digital technologies in government service delivery.
g) Collaborate with the States in developing tailor-made plans for e-government implementation.
h) Register and license vendors for IT products and services used by MDAs.
i) Develop regulatory instruments for the promotion of outsourcing practices in Nigeria.
5. Domain Name Management:
a) Supervise and maintain the country’s Top-Level Domain (TLD) registry.
b) Register and manage gov.ng and mil.ng domain names for MDAs.
c) Coordinate and supervise domain registrars through the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).
d) Monitor and ensure the implementation of standards for government websites and manage the gov.ng domain.
