About NPKI
The Nigeria Public Key Infrastructure (NPKI) is a standardized Certification Authority (CA) service that facilitates the secure transmission and exchange of information electronically. Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a framework of encryption and cybersecurity that protects communications between the server and client/users. PKI uses asymmetric cryptography to secure and authenticate participants in an online environment.
The Nigeria PKI is operated and governed by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), to issue certificates to its approved subordinate – CAs and provides digital signature-based certification services to secure and authenticate electronic transactions in Nigeria.
NPKI Services
The digital certificates issued by NPKI support (a) Authentication (b) Digital Signature (c) Encryption, and (d) Non-Repudiation services for accessing and processing of electronic information, documents and transactions. NPKI Certificate type includes;
