Anti-Corruption Unit
The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), was established by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as one of the implementation mechanisms for its Mandate vide circular Ref. No. OHCSF/MSO/192/94 dated 2nd October, 2001. This was sequel to the approval of the request to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) by ICPC for the establishment of ACTUs in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The Unit operates as a Standing Committee with nine (9) members
Objectives
- The main objective of ACTU of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is to assist ICPC in the implementation of its mandate of prohibition and prevention of corruption in the Public Service. Furthermore, the Unit is empowered by the Commission to carry out all the functions as set out in Section 6(a)-(f) of the ICPC Act 2000, except prosecution of offenders.
Functions
- Undertake preliminary investigation of petitions with minimum delay and forward findings to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)
- Periodically examine the practices, systems and procedures in the Agency as provided in Section 6 (b-d) of the Act 2000;
- Monitor and ensure compliance in respect of the provisions in the annual budget of the Agency;
- Conduct in-house training for the staff of the Agency through workshops, seminars etc;
- Monitor and assess ethics and compliance standards to Promote Ethics and Integrity in the Agency; and
- Monitor report , and provide advice to management, with respect to compliance with the prohibitions covering behaviours that bear on corrupt practices as contained in the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.
