Bar. Emmanuel Edet

Bar. Emmanuel Edet is currently an Acting Director of Regulation & Compliance Department and the Head of Legal Services and Board Matters Unit at the National Information Technology Development Agency. Mr. Edet holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree in Computer and Telecommunications Law. He started his career as a legal practitioner in Lagos and joined NITDA is 2003 where he has served in various Committees within and outside the Agency.
His expertise includes information technology contracting, outsourcing, electronic commerce, intellectual property, Internet governance and cybersecurity among others. He has served as a tutor for Internet Governance Capacity Building Program and a fellow at the United Nations Office in Geneva.
He has been involved in pioneering activities in the development of legal and institutional framework for Information Technology in Nigeria. He has participated in various technology initiatives in the areas of cybercrime, banking, policy, development and governance.
He has additional qualifications in Internet Governance, e-Government Policy and Strategy Development and Cybercrime Investigations and Prosecution. His interest includes technology contracting, outsourcing, Internet Governance, Information Technology policy and strategy development and electronic commerce issues. Mr. Edet also heads the Secretariat that provides services for the Governing Board of the Agency. He is happily married with children.
