Ahmed Tambuwal, PhD
Dr. Tambuwal holds a PhD in Internet Engineering obtained from the University of Aberdeen in 2014. He graduated from the Electrical Engineering Department of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2004 and earned a master’s degree in information systems from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 2006. In 2016, he returned to Aberdeen as a Commonwealth Fellow, where he undertook 10-month postdoctoral research to develop courseware for practical based teaching of basic networking concepts, digital design, and computer hardware.
Since joining NITDA in 2019, Ahmed has notably participated in the development of the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF). In his current role as the Ag. Director of the Digital Literacy and Capacity Building Department, he is leading the Agency’s implementation of the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) initiative that aims to facilitate achievement of 70% digital literacy level in Nigeria by 2027.
Before joining NITDA, Ahmed was an Associate Professor and the Head of ICT Department at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He has more than 20 academic publications from international conference presentations and journal paper submissions. He is a registered Engineer with COREN and has professional certifications in ITIL 4 and PRINCE2 Project Management.
