Amina Sambo-Magaji, PhD

Dr. Amina Sambo-Magaji, PhD, is a leading digital transformation and artificial intelligence expert with over 20 years of experience shaping Nigeria’s technology and innovation ecosystem. She is the pioneer Director of the Information Technology Department at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), where she leads initiatives advancing Nigeria’s digital economy agenda.

She holds a first-class degree in Computer Science, a Master’s with Distinction in Information Engineering, and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Robert Gordon University, Scotland. She has also completed executive education at MIT, Harvard University, and London Business School, strengthening her global perspective on technology leadership and innovation. Her research focuses on Ethical AI in education, learning systems, and knowledge advancement, with widely published work in international journals.

At NITDA, she has led flagship national initiatives in digital literacy, innovation ecosystems, and capacity development, including pioneering the Digital Literacy and Capacity Development Department and coordinating the Office for Nigeria Digital Innovation. Her work has helped bridge policy, innovation, and talent development across Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy.

She is the founder of the She and Tech Empowerment Hub, a platform advancing digital and AI skills for women and youth across Africa, impacting thousands of emerging entrepreneurs and professionals.

Dr. Sambo-Magaji is a mentor with Founders Institute and VC4A, serves on multiple innovation and data science boards, and is a Humphrey Fellowship alumna. She is widely recognized for her leadership in ethical AI, digital policy, and building inclusive, future-ready innovation ecosystems across Africa.
