NITDA DG Applauds Nigeria Start-Ups at GITEX

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has said that Nigeria has the human capacity to drive the momentum that could impact significantly in the Nigerian economy and the rest of the continent.

The Director General stated this in Dubai, UAE, while interacting with the Nigerian Start-ups at Gulf Information and Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2016.

Acknowledging the Nigeria’s potentials, the NITDA DG noted that the country has the potential to turn things around positively in the global technology industry which can change the face of Information Technology space. He further urged the Start-ups to remain focused as they strive for global recognition.

The Agency sponsored 16 Start-ups namely: Genii Games, ArtNigeria, Astrosand, ChowHub,Jara Mobile, Logical Address, and Phinnx. Others are CloudBurst, Diylaw, GoMyWay, Mobidoc, Pinfoot, Rotors & Pilots, Transforia, Wecyclers Nigeria Limited and Zobreus.

GITEX is the largest annual Information Communication Technology trade show, exhibition, conferences that holds in Dubai, United Arab Emirates at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It attracts over 150,000 technology professionals, Investors and Enterprise Leaders, Public Sector Officials, Tech Innovators and Entrepreneurs from over 140 countries.  The five-day show was comprised of an exhibition covering over 110,000 sqm, the GITEX Start-up Movement and many others.

Nigeria’s fourth participation at the GITEX 2016 was hinged on promoting investments in the technology sector through the African Investment Forum (AIF); Nigeria Pavilion which featured eight companies namely: SystemSpecs Ltd, PFS Ltd, Sidmach Ltd, NipEx, Simplex Business Solutions, Nigcomsat Ltd, and Nigerian Communication Commission; and the Start-up Hub.

The 2016 GITEX hosted about 4,000 exhibiting companies and 64 participating countries in conference sessions, 230 global thought leaders delivered insights across 65 sessions and 130 conference hours. GITEX is focused on showcasing the latest innovative technologies, providing high return on investment on business opportunities and is the region’s leading platform for technology businesses.
