The Governing Board of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) paid a courtesy call to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The visit according to the president of the Association, Rev. Sunday Afolayan was to intimate the management of NITDA, the NiRA activities in the last one year.
The president stated that the Agency has played a major role in the continuous existence of NiRA. He added that the effort of the Agency towards the acceptance of the country domain name .ng by the Ministry, Departments and Agencies is commendable.
He assured the management of the Agency a better collaboration to ensure effective ICT service delivery, he promised that the Association will conduct free registration for participants in the upcoming 2016 e-Nigeria Conference and will also participate in the exhibition to showcase what NiRA offers.
The NITDA Acting Director General, Dr. Vincent Olatunji commended the Association for its unrelenting efforts toward achieving the vision of the organisation.
He welcomed the intention of the Association to participate in the forth-coming Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) coming up later in the year in Dubai and in Nigeria by November. He further stated that such exposure would increase the advocacy for the .ng domain name which would increase Nigeria’s presence in cyberspace hence, generating revenue for the Association.
While congratulating Rev. Afolayan on his recent election as the president of African Link, Dr. Olatunji called on Nigerians to always aspire for strategic positions in other to increase the presence of Nigeria in cyberspace.
